Mary Jo Tunis, 91, of Anderson, passed away on March 10, 2014 at the Community Hospital North Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on December 9, 1922 in Otterbein, Indiana and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Mary graduated from Kempton High School. She was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Women’s Fellowship of Central Christian Church, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and Anderson Garden Club, she served with her husband for many years on the executive committee for the Gruenewald House.
She welcomed new families to Anderson as a Welcome Wagon hostess. She loved to cook, crafting, and loved spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Gregory Rebecca Tunis of Columbus, OH, Randall Karen Tunis of Elwood, IN, Bradley Sue Tunis of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Teresa Roger Keller of Indianapolis, IN, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Travis L. Tunis, father, Bert Freeman, mother, Hazel Freeman, brothers, Angelo Freeman, and John Freeman.
