Muncie – Mary Jo Smith, 79, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2018 at her residence. Mary Jo was born on November 20, 1938, to the late Mildred A. (Baker) and Allen Sailers in Springport, Indiana. Mary attended Muncie Central High School and later married the love of her life, Richard Smith, who precedes her in death. She worked as a waitress and at Superior Laundry for several years.
She will be greatly missed by three daughters; Billie Barton (husband Ron) of Muncie, Mistie Thompson (fiancé John Bower) of East Canton, Ohio, and Jennifer Foreman of Indianapolis; two sons; Jeff Donovan (fiancé Dawn) of Muncie and Michael Smith (wife Melissa) of Yorktown; two sisters; Pat Riggs (husband Bob) of Yorba Linda, California and Jackie Hooper of Willington, Kansas. Mary Jo was blessed with ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Jazz.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband; Richard Smith; one son; David J. Donovan; her parents; one sister; Sue Collins; one brother; Allen Eugene Sailers; and one brother in law; Bob Hooper.
