Mary Jo Matthews, 94, passed on June 3, 2013 to be with her Heavenly Father. She loved her family and serving her community. Her hobbies were playing bridge, reading, and cooking. Mary Jo and her husband traveled to Europe, Hawaii, The Holy Land, Alaska, and throughout the United States.

She belonged to many civic organizations and was President of the CB Woman’s Club, President of FRW, President of the Garden Club, President of Citizen’s League, President of Riverside Presbyterian Woman’s Organization, Regent of Daughter’s of the American Revolution, and was once a Board Member for the new Cocoa Beach Library.

Mary Jo was born on April 7, 1919 in Geneva, NY. Her twin sister Doris Passed in 2005 and her Brother-in-law (Lynn) passed in 2010. Most of her life she lived in NY and then moved to Cocoa Beach after her husband retired about 40 years ago. She and her family, enjoyed summers at Cayuga Lake in NY.

She was predeceased by her husband Hank Matthews (1986) and son Dick Matthews (1994). She is survived by her daughter Ginny Meyer (Karl) and daughter-in law Kathy Matthews, niece Marianne Kingston, 4 granddaughters Kris, Karen, Lisa, Lori (Shawn). God also blessed her with 6 great grandchildren Shellby, Kody, Nick, Khalie, Samantha, and Jazmine and with a great great grandchild on the way.

As a product of the depression and WWII era, Mary Jo could well be remembered as the casserole queen. And they were good.
