Mary Jo Langford, age 68, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community. She was born in Indianapolis to the late James Reece Abney and Iona Cances Canter on August 9, 1954.
Mary Jo started losing her sight from Glaucoma at a young age. She was a graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis. She was a nurturing mother and homemaker all of her life. Decorating her home for the holidays brought her great joy. She especially loved to decorate for Halloween. She was a great cook and often expressed her love by cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed playing board and card games. A lover of music, her favorite bands were The Temptations, The Monkees, Elvis, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson. She was very proud of herself for living independently for as long as she could.
In the last few years of her life, Mary Jo was cared for by the wonderful staff at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community and Main Street Hospice. The family wishes to thank and offer their warmest gratitude to everyone involved in her care. She will be dearly missed.
Mary Jo is survived by her two daughters, Kelly Jo (David) Coers and Kerry Jo (Joshua) Ware, as well as two granddaughters, Shelbi Louise-Reece Coers and Gwendolyn Eve Ware. Survivors also include her brother, James Michael (Lisa) Abney, and her three nephews, Brandon, Jay, and Logan.
