Mary Jeanne Duncan Welsh, a religious person, excellent mother, and wife devoted to her family, a lover of history, an omnivorous reader, and a longtime volunteer supporter of The New Orleans Symphony Book Fair, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the age of 88. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Ronald A. Welsh, M.D.; children, Mary Jeanne Welsh Otwell (husband David), William A. Welsh (wife Donna), and James D. Welsh, M.D. (wife Sherrie), four grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Caroline Arceneaux, M.D. of New Orleans and Kathleen E. Edwards of Austin, Texas. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Aileen Eberts Duncan and Dr. Donald Duncan.
