Mary Jean Brandow, 78, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary Jean was born on May 17, 1937, in Ottawa, to Donald and Florence (Hall) Brandow. She grew up on a farm in Serena and was a 1955 graduate of Serena High School. She worked at the First National Bank of Ottawa for several years, later in the customer service department at Ottawa Silica where she retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society, and a past member of St. Josephs Parish in Wedron.

Mary Jean was a league bowler for many years and a member of Prairie Lakes Monday golf league. She was a Notre Dame fan and a lifelong, diehard White Sox fan. She attended many White Sox games over the years from the time she was a little girl until her last game in the fall. She relished the fact she got tosee a White Sox World Series title in her lifetime.

She loved to travel and went to Florida in the winter for the last twenty years, enjoying the time with her sister and making many wonderful friends. She cherished her family, attending every game, concert and recital and loved being the family chauffeur. She was our loving and devoted Aunt Mo, a caring sister and friend and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her nephew, Alan (Kathy) Mattes, of Ottawa, nieces Sue (Chris) Ellibee, of Braselton, Georgia, and Diane(Kurt) Stevenson, of Ottawa; great-nieces Ashley DiSandro, Lauren Mattes, Hayley Stevenson, and Abby Mattes; a great-nephew, Jake Stevenson; and a brother, James Brandow, of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joanne (Brandow) Mattes.

Pallbearers will be Alan Mattes, Kurt Stevenson, Chris Ellibee,Jake Stevenson, Marcus DiSandro, and John Brandow.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-nieces Ashley DiSandro, Lauren Mattes, Hayley Stevenson, and Abby Mattes.
