Mary Jane Winkler, 90, of Whitehall Rd. Emlenton, Richland Twp. Venango County, died at 2:20 pm Friday November 21st, 2008, at Sugarcreek Station in Franklin.
Mrs. Winkler was born on February 1, 1918 in Big Bend, Scrubgrass Twp. Venango County. She was the daughter of Samuel P. And Arena Lawrence Oglesby.
Mrs. Winkler was 1937 graduate of Emlenton High School and she attended Oil City business school. She had been a member of the former West Home Free Methodist Church, and she was active in the women’s missionary society. She later became a member of the Van Free Methodist Church. Mrs. Winkler was a homemaker, she enjoyed baking bread, canning, and both vegetable and flower gardening.
Mrs. Winkler was married on June 30, 1944 to Harold Eugene Winkler. Mr. Winkler preceded her in death on June 3, 1998.
Mrs. Winkler is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Smith, and her husband J.R. of Cincinnati, OH, Ruby Doubledee and her husband Stephen of Oronogo, MO., and Rita Winkler of Cincinnati, OH. Two sons survive, Joseph Winkler and his wife Carolyn of Cincinnati, OH, and Gene Winkler and his wife Lyn of Friendswood, TX. Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Rev. George P. Oglesby and his wife Ellouise of Pleasantville, and Donald Oglesby, and his wife Elsie of Emlenton. Four sisters survive, Hazel Weaver of Emlenton, Anna Winkler, and her husband Herman of Emlenton, Ellen Hornburg, and her husband Norman of Clarendon, and Ruby Payne, and her husband Charles of Franklin. A number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Winkler was preceded in death by two daughters, Ida Mack and Helen Smith, and a brother, Lawrence Oglesby
