Mary had a huge zest for life and will always be remembered for the gusto with which she lived. She was a small woman with a huge heart and lovable personality. Often described as a “pistol and a “gem”, she pursued every day like it was her last, spreading joy and laughter. She overcame major health obstacles in her lifetime, but never complained. Mary was a positive influence on everyone she met and treated everyone like part of her loving family.
She was the proud wife of a career Marine and wore the stars and stripes proudly. She was fiercely protective, loyal, and loving of family and friends. Mary loved to talk whether anyone was listening or not. She loved to laugh and play games and had a unique sense of humor. She also had an ego, as evidenced by her belief that she could out fish her brothers.
Quilting was her passion the last few years. She just loved fabric and creating quilts for those she loved. Mary loved to shop and was well known for her knack to stretch a dollar. She was a great housekeeper and took pride in the many collectables that she displayed.
She was extremely proud of her children and many grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her large circle of family and friends; they are all in celebration of her special life and the many influences that she had on everyone. She leaves behind a legacy that makes her family and friends very proud.
Family that Mary is reunited with are her parents, Vernon and Alice Peterson and sisters Jean Rude and Linda Peterson.
Mary leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Stephen Andrews, Sr. of Detroit Lakes, MN; daughter, Matie (Chris) Hanson of Detroit Lakes, MN; sons, Stephen (Rebecca) Andrews, Jr. of Kent, WA and Chris (Bridgette) Andrews, Sr. of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Chace, Noah, Cole, Chris, Jr., Mia, Alissa, Riley, Makaylee and Liam; brothers, Duane (Jean) Peterson and John (Kim Linsey) Peterson both of Bemidji, MN and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
