Jackie Bruemmer, formerly of Carlyle passed away on Saturday, February 7 after a short stay at Hospice House in Kennewick.
She was born in Carlyle, Illinois on August 13, 1925 the daughter of John and Martha (Zahn) Niehoff and lived there with her husband, Joe, until his death in 1993.Jackie obtained a bachelor’s degree from Webster College and taught 7th grade at St. Mary’s Catholic School while raising her two sons.
She later completed her Master’s degree in Geography from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and worked as a senior water analyst for the Southwestern Illinois Planning Commission.Retirement took her to the Tampa area of Florida appreciating the warm winters and many visits by grandchildren.
Jackie lived in Oldsmar, Florida until 1999 when she moved to Richland, Washington to be closer to her sons and their families. Over the last 9 years, she enjoyed the Northwest and the hospitality of family and friends in the Tri Cities.Family in the Northwest includes sons, John Bruemmer and wife Barb of Issaquah and Steve Bruemmer and Susan of Richland and her grandchildren (Angie, Mike, Megan and Kelli) along with close friend Candolynn Meador.
Jackie is also survived by sisters, Jan Carle and husband Art of St. Louis, Mo and Jean Brenner of Albuquerque, NM and their families. Her brother, Bob Niehoff, preceded her in death in 2002.
Jackie leaves behind many other close family and friends including Bob’s son Curt Niehoff of Lutz, FL, Betty, Robert and Jack Leonard of New Orleans, LA, Mary and Clem Clemons of Gurnee, IL, Bill and Estelle Bruemmer of Hillsboro, IL, and Ed and Mary Jane Lampen and Maggie Bruemmer of Carlyle.
