Mary Isabelle (Thompson) Hacker, 88, of Bloomington, passed away at her residence Wednesday, July 7, 2021. She was born in Solsberry, Indiana on September 3, 1932 to Frank and Minnie (Smith) Thompson. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Herschel R. Hacker; her parents Frank and Minnie Thompson; her brothers Forrest, Marion, Charles and David Russell Thompson; her sister Wanita Wiles; and daughter-in-law Nancy (Roberts) Hacker.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a Charter Member of the DAVA of Greene County for several years. Mary cared deeply for her family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes with them was playing cards. She loved to reminisce and tell childhood stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a remarkable cook and baker, her cookies and fudge were a family favorite during the holidays. Mary was caring, loving, and sweet, and had a contagious laugh that filled the room. Her patience, soft voice and gentle smile were all so comforting and will always be remembered and greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her children: Phyllis Sowders of Bloomington and Roger Hacker of Springville; her grandchildren: Tracy (Karen) Byers, Shannon (Brad) Goodall, Chad Hacker, Courtney (Justin) Leinenbach; her great-grandchildren: Alex Pate and Kisa Byers, Kaitlyn and Madelyn Goodall, Zadyn, Lenix and Maven Leinenbach; her sisters: Violet (Rick) Morris and Lorene (Dwight) Cain; and several nieces and nephews.
