Mary Hills Roberts, 94, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Jacksonville.
She was born April 16, 1918, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Adam Edmond and Isabel Estella Hills. She married John Eldridge Roberts on June 26, 1938, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1990.
She is survived by three children, Dennis (wife, Trudy) Roberts, Linda (husband, Danny) Maddox, and Tom (wife, Cheri) Roberts; nine grandchildren, Amy (husband, Mathew) Wilson, Alicia (husband, Butchie) Wood, Brian (wife, Sara) Roberts, Shawna Roberts (companion, Kyle Henderson), Shelby (husband, Kyle) Chumley, Jennifer (husband, Rich) Evans, Sarah (husband, Joe) Bergschnider, Stacey (husband, Matthew) Vaniter, and Nick Carl; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Roberts.
Mary attended Browns Business College. A member of Central Christian Church, she was a faithful volunteer in the church, helping wherever needed. She also volunteered at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville and delivered Doorbell Dinners.
Mary loved working in her yard with her flowers and feeding the birds. She placed great value in taking care of her family and her home. She will be sadly missed by her family.
