Mrs. Mary Helen Duffee Sides, age 84, of Lanett passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 19, 2017.
Mrs. Sides was born in Bleeker, Alabama on February 17, 1932 to the late Clarence Wade Duffee and Mattie Lou Duffee.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tom Duffee, Earnest Duffee, William Duffee, and Johnny Duffee; sisters, Jewel Stokes and Annie Belle Harper.
Mrs. Sides was a member of Valley Baptist Church. She was very active with the Valley High School Band Boosters from 1969 until 1978. She and Mr. Sides operated Amity Park for a number of years. She was an avid Auburn University and Atlanta Braves fan. She was a lady who never met a stranger and enjoyed working with people over the years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with all animals. She loved her children.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David Leonard Sides, Jr.; children, David L. “Bim” (Deborah) Sides, II, Kathy Sides (Bruce) Maynard, Rebecca Sides (John) Looser; 6 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Samuel Duffee; many nieces and nephews.
