Mrs. Mary Haddix Talerico of Nutter Fort, WV, died Sunday evening, January 15, 2017. She was born September 17, 1929, in Wymer, WV. She was a daughter of the late Arlie Randolph Haddix and Gertrude Mary Snyder Haddix Elza.

On November 20, 1948, she married Anthony Talerico and they celebrated 46 years of marriage before his death on April 4, 1994. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Joyce Westfall and her husband Richard of Clarksburg, WV; and Rosemary Maximin and her husband Michael of Oak Hill, VA. Mrs. Talerico is also survived by five grandchildren, Julie Westfall and fiancée Phillip Stark of Morgantown, WV; David Westfall of Reston, VA; Maria Westfall and partner Connie Fallon of Clarksburg, WV; Elizabeth Maximin of Honolulu, HI; and Nasstassja Maximin Joseph and husband Sheldon of Caddo Mills, TX. She is also survived by a grandchild, Collin William Stark of Morgantown, WV.

Mrs. Talerico is survived by siblings Cora Carr, of Bowden, WV; Floyd Elza, of Corsica, PA; and Betty Elza, also of Corsica, PA; sisters-in-law Mary A. Talerico, of Shinnston, WV; and Shelia Haddix, of Franklin, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Retta Simmons of Elkins, WV, and a brother, Arlie Haddix, of Brandon, FL.

Mrs. Talerico graduated in 1946 from Harmon High School. Following high school, she graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 in Clarksburg, WV, where she realized her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.

Following graduation, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Clarksburg, WV, from 1949-1952. In 1952, Mrs. Talerico began working as a clinical supervisor at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Clarksburg, WV and remained there until retirement.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood, WV, and served as a Eucharistic minister to the sick. Also, she was a member of Perpetual Daughters and the Better than Ever group. Mrs. Talerico was a member of the St. Mary’s School of Nursing Alumni Association.
