Mary H. Loudon, age 80, of Salem, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at her home. She was born July 13, 1936 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Walter and Jessie (Kidd) Sweeney.

She was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Kent State University in Salem. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Salem Hospital in the surgical waiting room. She was also a caregiver and homemaker all her life. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and loved to read and travel, her favorite author was James A. Michener.

Her husband, Donald Ray Loudon, whom she married April 11, 1955, preceded her in death January 19, 2003; a daughter, Dawn Loudon; three brothers, Asher, Hugh and Walter; and a sister, Anna Martin preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Matthew (Jennifer) Loudon of Streetsboro and Howard (Kathy) Loudon of Salem; a daughter, Cynthia (Gary) Eagleton of Salem; a sister, Estelle (John) Ursu; four brothers, Frank (Sally) Sweeney of Salem, William (Darlene) Sweeney of Bovy, Minnesota, Norman Sweeney of Covington, Kentucky and Pat (Lois) Sweeney of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her cat Gracie.
