Mimi is now reunited with her son Cliff Antonio Alarcon, Apr. 1979, and brother Thomas Lunes Evans, 2006. Mimi had grown to love Flowery Branch, living here 21 years. She lived 32 years in Decatur. Raising 4 children, 3 sons & a daughter, Mimi wore many hats.
She retired from DeKalb Revenue Collections, Customer Service. Her main love was her children. Taxiing all over to ball games, from Glenlake, to Midway, to Belvedere to Avondale, scouts, cheerleading, in the rain, sleet, shine or snow. She was resilient, turning lemons into lemonade. Or better yet, her Rice & Beans always at the ready on the stove! Mimi was a God loving Christian woman, she loved the Lord. She was a longtime member at Belvedere Baptist and Brockett Road Baptist Church while living in Decatur. She then attended The Rock & 12 Stone when she moved to Flowery Branch. In her waning years, she loved watching Joel Osteen & celebrating God’s Greatness from her living room.
Mimi was born in Palatka, FL to a wonderful mother, Alice Mary Watts Evans and awesome father, Lunes Clifton Evans.
They traveled much of the Southeast US, before settling in Chattanooga, TN. at 17-years of age. At 18 she married Henry “Kiko” Pedro Alarcon. They lived in many locales: Atlanta, Chattanooga, Hapeville, Tampa, Guayaquil, Ecuador, before settling in Decatur. Mimi was well loved by all who grew to know her.
Her remaining family include: Sons: Rick (wife Vicky) Alarcon of Flowery Branch. Mark (wife Kalynn) Alarcon of Gainesville. Daughter: Kina Tatum. Longtime friend: Victor Miller. Mimi is also survived by 9 wonderful grandchildren whom she loved dearly. They too, adored Mimi: Matthew Alarcon, Nicole (husband Cameron) Burger, Jennifer Alarcon, Heather Alarcon, Mark (wife Anita) Alarcon II, Jessica (husband Paul) Lowery, Jacob Alarcon, Morgan (husband Dedrick) Santiago, and Mimi’s BFF Kaitlin KAT Tatum.
Kaitlin has been very instrumental in keeping Mimi healthy, comfortable and happy in her waning years by watching over Mimi like a good shepherd watching over her herd. Mimi also leaves behind 12 great grands, and nephew Raymond Evans of South Carolina
