Mary (Fortosis) Bierman, 96, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022 while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Morris E. Bierman with whom she shared over 42 years of marriage. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Constantine and Kiriaki (Zumas) Fortosis and sister of the late Dr. Anthony C. Fortosis and the late Ella C. Dritsas. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Liberty High School and then went on to work as a secretary for Arcadia Development until retiring. She also volunteered her time at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was involved in many ways through the years. She especially loved singing in the choir.

In 1973, she met the most wonderful man, Morris Bierman. After a six-year courtship (mostly coffee at the kitchen table) they married and blended their families together. Mary and Morris worked side by side in raising their children and teaching them respect, care for others, a strong work ethic and perseverance.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Morris and their children: Daughters, Christina (Jeffery) Dunn of Muskegon, MI, Constance Traphagen of Norwood, NJ; son, Dean (Christina) Angeles of Allentown, PA; step-children: Mark Bierman of Kunkletown, PA, Rhonda (Don) Massad of Latham, NY, Cathy (Mark) Manno of Nazareth, PA and Timothy (Karen) Bierman of Catasauqua, PA; 17 grandchildren and many precious great-grandchildren.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:28

She was preceded in death by her daughter Victoria Toscano and step-son David Bierman.
