Mary Etta Beckom Davis, 95, passed away at Peak Resources-Alamance in Graham, NC on Monday, May 15, 2023 after several years battling arthritis, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
Born in Gibsonville, NC on August 18, 1927, she was the wife of the late Lauder Broughton “L.B.” Davis, Jr. and the daughter of Marvin and Alma Craven Beckom, both deceased.
Mary Etta was a lifelong member of Davis Street United Methodist Church where she served and participated in its many activities. She was a Hospice volunteer and a member of the Red Hats.
She loved gardening (Master Gardner), crocheting, knitting, sewing, camping, puzzles, cooking, and riding horses in her youth. She retired from Belk’s after several years of service. She completed her high school education at ACC. But most of all, she was a dedicated caregiver for many family members including both parents, her husband, in-laws, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Survivors include one son, Robert Wayne Davis (Linda Ross Davis) of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Zarah Davis (Jason Godwin) of Joint Base Andrews, MD, Samuel Davis (Adrian Tarin) of Windsor, CO, Rachel Schwarting (Michael) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Daniel Davis of Chesapeake, VA; step-grandchildren, Shan Croy (Steve) of Princeton, WV, Mike Williams (Michelle) of Burlington, NC, and Angi Williams (Cash Webber) of Burlington, NC; great grandchildren, Shelby and Zahava Godwin, Hayden LoAlbo (Landon), Kaity, Noah, Jace, and Amelia Schwarting, Madeline and Trent Williams, Zachary Lance, and Laken Wellman (Josh); two great great-grandchildren, Shay LoAlbo and Gwen Wellman; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Martha Bowman Davis of Burlington. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Beckom and Billy Beckom and one sister, Bettie Lou Beckom Overman.
