Mary Ellen Prather, 88, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday evening, September 4, 2018, in Jacksonville.
She was born July 13, 1930, in Timewell, IL, the daughter of James Walter and Edna Louise Cook.
She is survived by three children, Cheryl (deceased husband, Mike) Mele of South Jacksonville, Cynthia (husband, Michael) Pence of Jacksonville, and Steven (wife, Deborah) Prather of Locust Grove, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Charles Cook of FL, and Carol Higgins of AZ. She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Prather; and one sister, Martha Koch.
Throughout Mary’s life she was an extremely loving and devoted homemaker. She was also an enthusiastic member and longtime pioneer with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 46 years.
