Mary-Ellen Mininberg, 88, wife of the late Ian Mininberg, passed away at home on December 7, 2016, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Mayor John W. Murphy and Helen O’Connell. Mary Ellen was educated in Catholic schools and received a B.A. in English from Albertus Magnus College, and an M.A. in English from Fordham University. She was an extraordinary classroom teacher: scholarly, dramatic, humorous, demanding, and always passionate to inspire young people.
