Mary Ellen (Lawrence) Renn-Valk, 86, of Middletown, wife of John “Jack” Valk, passed away on Sunday, April 8th at Village at South Farms. Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Elsie (Ferguson) Lawrence.
Mary Ellen attended school in Phillipsburg, NJ and graduated Phillipsburg High School. She went on to Trenton State Teachers College. After graduating taught kindergarten in Stewartsville, NJ and then second grade at Freeman Elementary School in Phillipsburg. After her marriage to the late Ervin G. Renn, she moved to Connecticut where she worked for Weekly Reader for twenty seven years as Senior Photo Librarian.
