Mary Ellen Plaine, 79, of Taneytown died Friday, February 7, 2014 at her home near Harney. Born November 2, 1934 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Elizabeth Eyler Lawrence. She was the wife of John K. Plaine, to whom she was married for 57 years.
Mary graduated from Taneytown High School in 1954. She worked at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown for several years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baust Church in Tyrone.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Kimberly Sweeney of Gettysburg, PA, and Kelly Kreit and husband David of Taneytown; son, Kevin Plaine of Hampstead; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by granddaughter, Suzann Morgan, and sisters, Dorothy Frock, Shirley Fogle, and Charlotte Lawrence.
