Mary Ellen or Helen as she was known to some, passed away on Sunday March 26, 2017 at MRMC with dignity and grace.
She was born on December 27, 1935, raised in Uxbridge, MA and lived in Upton for 30 years before moving to Beaumont in Northbridge. She leaves behind her children: Susan Lyon of Acton, Richard St. Martin of CO, Sandra Fenton of Upton, Kendra Sauer and her husband Peter of Marlborough, Rebecca Zarella and her husband Michael of Millville, and her step-son Scott Chamberlain of Upton.
She is also survived by her devoted sisters: Gloria Palis of Northbridge, Cecelia Rasicot and her husband Ernie of Northbridge, her niece Emanuella Walsh; who was raised as her sister, and her husband Dick of Millville. A long list of cousins, nieces, nephews and the countless list of friends and caretakers she has had over the years.
She was pre-deceased by her son Stuart Fenton Jr of VA, her brother William St Martin, two sisters: Virginia Viera and Marie Ryder, her brother in law George Palis, her niece Rosita Bouvier; who was raised as her sister and Rosita’s husband Butch.
She worked many years as a waitress, a home health aide, and her love for all things beautiful shone through as she enjoyed a long career as an antique dealer, specializing in glassware. She would spend Friday nights at auctions and weekends traveling New England for various antique shows and fairs.
Her most treasured time was time with those she loved. Watching movies, listening to music, playing cards, and trivia. Growing up our home was overflowing with laughter and love. Family cookouts, Sunday dinners and the smells of baked goods, homemade jellies, and canned goods were always throughout. Holidays at our house were filled to the brim with her homemade pies, cookies, and turkey dinners sometimes for two dozen people.
Her love of life was evident: her infectious smile, her love to laugh, her quick-witted jokes, her warm and caring ways. A tender heart always willing to help anyone without hesitation, always seeing the good in people.
There are no words to express our deep appreciation to the staff at both Beaumont Nursing Home and at MRMC. Your care and attention to her are unmatched. It was abundantly clear that she was truly loved by you all, for that there are no words adequate to say thank you.
