Mary Elizabeth Kuntz, age 89, of Cassopolis, died peacefully early Monday morning, August 20, 2018 in Cass County Medical Care Facility. She was born October 18, 1928 in Cassopolis, the oldest of three daughters born to Glen and Elizabeth Brunton. She married Kenneth Eugene Kuntz July 14, 1970 in Bainbridge, Georgia. After more than forty years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 2011.

Mary Elizabeth was employed from the early 1960’s through the 1970’s as an interior designer for the booming mobile home industry in Elkhart, Indiana. She was later the manager of several apartment complexes in Elkhart, as well as a car salesman there. She ultimately retired from a part-time job she really enjoyed – being an aide in the Cassopolis Public Schools. She got to know many young people in the community who still refer to her as “Miss Mary.”Mary had been a member of the Eastern Star, the Cassopolis Village Council, and the Cassopolis United Methodist Church. She loved animals, especially dogs and her pets became her constant companions in later years. Boating was also a passion, and she and her husband spent many weekends on their cabin cruiser on Lake Michigan. Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She is survived by her two sisters, Glenyce (Butch) Haggin of Granger, Indiana, and Vicki (Jim) Beebe of Cassopolis; and a very special cousin and caregiver, Margie (Tom) Crouch of Cassopolis. She was also very close to all her nieces and nephews: Ronald (Tina) Haggin of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Elizabeth (Jamie) First of Cassopolis; Mary (John) Sims of Granger; and Sally (Joe) Caruso of South Bend; along with eight great-nieces and nephews: Glen Haggin, Pat Haggin, and Jack Haggin, Tyler (Robin) First and Tommy (Morgan) First, John D. Sims, Ellie Tietsort and Ty Caruso. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
