Mrs. Mary Gray, 84, of Ottawa, passed away March 19, 2011, at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Mary was born March 14, 1927, in Ottawa to Charles and Elsie (Walkling) Geiger. She married Fred W. Gray on June 28, 1952, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She attended Ottawa Township High School and Northwestern University with a bachelors degree in Romance Languages. She was a translator for an import and export company based in Chicago. She later became a secretary for Farm Bureau in Chicago and retired in 1952. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and PEO Chapter of EH of Ottawa. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Ottawa, a lifetime member of the Girls Scouts of the USA, volunteering many hours and serving on the Board of Directors of Centrillio Council of Girls Scouts. She also volunteered at Reruns and PADS in Ottawa.
Mary is survived by her husband, Fred of Ottawa; two sons, Kevin (Marie) Gray of Marseilles and Steven (Jody) Gray of Ottawa; one daughter, Susan Gray of Wilmington, North Carolina; four grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Geiger.
