Mary Elise Reese Culbreath, of Union Point, Georgia, died, Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her residence. She was born on January 5, 1923 in Norwood, GA to the late Jesse Otis “J.O.” Reese and Theola Duckworth Reese. Mary graduated from Warren County High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in education from Women’s College of Georgia in Milledgeville, Georgia. She worked for the Greene County Board of Education and taught English at Union Point High School and Greene County High School for over 40 years. She was also the librarian during that time.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Hiram Culbreath in February of 2011; and all of her siblings, Harvey Reese, Earl Reese, G. T. Reese, Pilcher Reese and Leon “Cotton” Reese, Reba Reese, Thelma Langham, Bertha Cheely, Kitty Newsome and Polly Woodruff. She is survived by a number of beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
For the last 8 years, she was provided around the clock care by 4 wonderful ladies, Ann Jones, Edna Yearwood, Paula Jones Wynn and LaSalle Farley. During that time, all of them developed a very close friendship with her and were considered to be far more than just her caregivers.
