Mary E. Sandstrom, 92, of the Gateway Garden Assisted Living Center in Bethlehem, GA (formerly of Gladstone) passed away Saturday morning September 2, 2017 at the Gateway Garden Assisted Living Center.

Mary was born December 11, 1924 in Gladstone, MI the daughter of Antoine and Virginia (Willette) Roberts. Mary was raised in Gladstone where she was a 1943 graduate of Gladstone High School. Following graduation, Mary worked for the U.S. Government in Chicago during WW II.

Mary was united in marriage to Robert Sandstrom on November 23, 1946 in Chicago. They resided in Minnesota, Manistee, MI, South Haven, MI and later in Gladstone when Robert was reassigned to the Gladstone State Police Post. Mary held various office positions with her last job being at the Unemployment Office in Escanaba. In 2008 she moved to Georgia to be closer to her daughter.

Mary was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Her hobbies included reading, having coffee and tea with friends and shopping. She especially loved little dogs.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Sharon (Robert) Turner of Monroe, GA

Granddaughter: Tara Gray of Monroe, GA

Grandchildren: Zoe, Leland and Brielle Gray

Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive

In addition to her parents, her husband Robert in 2005, brother, Richard Roberts and sister, Bernice Lundin preceded Mary in death.
