Mary E. Mertens, 92, of Middletown passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late James and Anna (Craigh) Watson.
Mary’s early marital life was devoted to the care of her late daughter Kathy who was born with Cystic Fibrosis. Later, she enjoyed bingo, singing but mostly time with her family, especially her great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband; Arthur J. Mertens in 1999, her daughter Kathy and her brother, Raymond. Surviving is her loving daughter, Mary E. Quirk and her husband Kevin of Middletown, grandchildren; Sean, James, and Shannon Wells, and her great grandchildren; Keava, Maeve, Nora Quirk, and Connor and Keira Wells. Also surviving is her dear brother, Gerard Tweedy of Brooklyn.
