Mary Hays Mary Hays, 94, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Mount Joy Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Hays, who passed away in March 2003. Born in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Hurtay) Hurban, who were Czechoslovakian immigrants. Mary graduated from Wilson High School, and later worked for Sears in Easton. She became the first female County Controller in Northampton County, serving from 1967 to 1975.
