Mary E. Cook, age 90, of Marion, IN, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at Marion Rehabilitation and Assisted Living in Marion, IN.
She was born in Marion on February 5, 1924 daughter of the late Charles E. Cates and the late Ethel (Powell) Cates. She married Edgar L Cook, they enjoyed 57 years of marriage before his death on December 14, 1999.
From her years of helping her husband on their farm, plus 20 years at J.C. Penny Co. in Marion, an auxiliary volunteer at Marion General Hospital, resident at Suite Living Retirement Community, and recently Marion Rehabilitation and Assisted Living, her life was about helping others. She loved to give angel pins to her friends and acquaintances. She also shared her love of the Lord too many. Mary was a member of the Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Marion, IN.
She is survived by Three Daughters: Connie (Jim) Imler, Marion, IN
Janie (Donald) Ruse, Sweetser, IN and Betty (Sid) Richey, Marion, IN
One Brother: Lester E. (Georgeanna) Cates, Marion, IN Sister-in-law, Esther Cates, Marion, IN
Grandchildren: Robert Imler, Kim (Sandy) Burke, Joel Ruse, Janeen (Philip) McKnight, Paula (Aaron) McMillan, Julie (Nic) Cain, and Amy (Adam) Tohulka.
13 Great Grandchildren.
Mary was proceeded in death by six brothers, Clarence Cates, Russell Cates, Charles Cates, Robert Cates, Arthur Cates and Jesse Cates; and two sisters, Velma Wolfe and Waneta Collins.
