Those left to honor Mary’s memory include her seven grandchildren: Dan (Sharla) Dunsbergen, Scott (Chris) Dunsbergen, Tim (Nicole) Dunsbergen, Doug (Gina) Embray, Devin (Angie) Embray, Darrin (Trish) Embray, and Melody (Brian) Cordes; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Engeline Jarnagin and Ruth Pauls; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Julia (De Bruyn) Birkenholtz; her husband, Leland in 2003; son, David Lee Ball; and her daughter, Betty Lou Ruden.
Mary graduated from Newton High School in 1936. She worked at the Hy-Vee Bakery for 10 1/2 years. She also worked at the Howard Fenner’s Restaurant.
