Mary Diane (Reid) Wheeler, 71, of Plymouth passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021at her home with her family at her side. She was born in Boston, MA on June 26, 1949, the daughter of the late James T. and Beatrice M. (Theriault) Reid. She was educated at Roslindale High School and was a graduate of Boston College where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Diane entered the US Army where she worked as a Registered Nurse caring for the women and children of the military and their families. She was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel. She later continued her career as a Pediatric Nurse Case Manager for Centrus Premier Home Care where she provided care for children with severe disabilities. She also acted as an in-home nurse for a select number of patients, most notably the late Jessica McPhail. She retired in 2013. Diane’s favorite way to pass the moments of her life was always with hugs and laughs. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones both in person and on the phone. Passed on by her father, she loved listening to and watching the birds as it reminded her of him and her childhood home. As an energetic teenager, she began following her favorite baseball team the Boston Red Sox all the way through recent years recounting her favorite memories every time they played the Yankees. Not one for popular music, she loved the Beatles, the Beach Boys, young Elvis, Lionel Richie (“Once, Twice, Three Times A Lady”), and classical music that she openly conducted while driving and embarrassing her children.
