Mary “Dene” Efird, 77, of Locust, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021.
Dene was born September 14, 1944, in Albemarle to the late Boyd and Mary Little. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hal Efird; sister, Danielle Griffin; and brothers, Ronald, Robert, and Richard Little.
Dene spent a great deal of her life playing softball, which she loved. She loved her church family at Central Station Cowboy Church and singing on the Praise Team. Dene enjoyed playing cards with her sisters all the time. She loved and cared for her pet chickens.
Survivors include daughter, Renae (Jeff) Crayton of Locust; grandchildren, Kelli (Robbie) Denton of Locust, Kyle (Whitney) Crayton of Oakboro, Becka Crayton of Locust; great-grandchildren, Hali and Kase Denton, Ty, Walker, and Judah Crayton; sisters, Delores Whitley, Deanna Freeman, and Doris Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
