LAWRENCE – Mary J. (DeFillippo) Robito, 87 a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away peacefully at High Pointe House in Haverhill on Wednesday, May 30, surrounded by her family. Mary was the widow of Casperino Robito.
Born in Lawrence, Mary was the daughter of the late Mr. Carmen DeFillippo and Mrs. Josephine (DeLuca) DeFillippo. Mary was a hardworking woman who took great pride in her work, whether it was working tirelessly at Lawrence General Hospital or at Imperial Cleaners, or preparing and serving homemade Italian meals to the priests at St. Mary of the Assumption in Lawrence or to the Augustinians at St. Ambrose at Merrimack College in North Andover.
As a loving, resilient, traditional, devout Catholic woman, Mary was most proud of her family and the unique bond she had with each of them. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Joyce Robito of Lawrence, and son, Jerry Robito and his wife Kimberly of Lawrence; her cherished grandchildren, Alison DiGloria of Lawrence, Jason Robito and his wife Heather Oliveri of Bradford and Kelley Bateman and her husband Kevin Bateman of Haverhill; two great grandchildren whom she adored dearly, Ryan and Colin Bateman of Haverhill. Whether it was work, cleaning, cooking, or caring for family, Mary put her heart and soul in all she did.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Lawrence General Hospital, as well as the caring and compassionate staff at High Pointe House in Haverhill for taking such exceptional care of her during her final days. Mary’s Catholic faith helped her endure through life’s various struggles and hardships, including her recent illness. Though she will be deeply missed, her family has no doubt that she is at peace and was accepted with open arms by God.
