On Sunday, November 28, 2021, Mary D. Lemon, nee Shook, of Davidsonville, MD, formerly of Harmans, MD, went to meet her Lord and Savior. She was born February 9, 1925, in Petersburg, West Virginia, to the late George and Essie Shook. Mary was one of seven children. She was a twin to Georgia Shook, and they were the babies of the family, with Mary being the last of the Shook family.
Mary was blessed with 96 years, some that were very trying at times. She married Mike Fador in 1940, at the young age of 15, shortly after he went to Germany to serve in WWII. While he was serving his country, Mary was working at the Celanese Plant in Cumberland, MD. She worked on a loom and wove the cords in the parachutes for the military. She lived through the depression, which taught her to always appreciate what you have. After the death of her husband, Mike, and her daughter, Susan Fador, she married John H. Lemon in 1979, and then suffered his sudden death in 1986. Mary’s faith in her Lord and Savior is the one thing she never lost. She spent her last few years watching and listening to Evangelists on her television most of her free time, due to the immobility she experienced. She witnessed to people every day of her life. Mary was the Song Leader at the Odenton Church of God for many, many years. She held a church service at the North Arundel Nursing Home for many years, and rarely missed the chance to go and preach to the patients. Mary enjoyed cooking, she would have Monday Night family dinners for whomever wanted to come to eat, she enjoyed canning her husband’s crops from their garden for the winter, she made the BEST homemade bread and pies, and would share the hot rolls with her neighbor, that gave her great pleasure and was known for her Potato Salad. She also enjoyed riding bicycles, bowling, shopping, going to church, and reading her bible.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Belinda and Glenn Castle, Remona Poston, Pamela Hovatter and Doug Shirk, Mark Fador, I and Andrea Fador. Her beloved grandchildren, Michelle and Robbie Brookman, Rachael Waters, Jeremy and Isabel Poston, Jason and Amy Erbe, and the late John Erbe, Jr., and his wife Tabetha Erbe, Mark, II and Sarah Fador, Corey and Mike Fador, Richard Brown and Tiffany Kaminski.
