Mary Centofanti, age 92, of Salem, died at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Sterling House of Salem. She was born April 12, 1922, daughter of the late Camillo and Anna (Volio) Centofanti. Mary was born in Italy and came to Ohio at age six. She visited her homeland many times throughout the years. She and her husband Anthony were named Italian citizens of the year in 1999. She was a Grey Lady at Salem Hospital, her uniform and certificate of completion are at the Salem Historical Society, also displayed is the dress she made for the Centennials though out the years. Both volunteered tirelessly on many events in Salem. Mary and Tony truly lived the American dream. She and her husband both were well respected in the community. Mary and Anthony traveled extensively with friends and family.
