Mary Catherine “Cat” Fry, 94 of Greenfield passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born on May 27, 1926, in McCordsville, Indiana to the late Byford L. & India Grace (Wright) Lane.
Cat was a life-long Hancock County resident and 1944 graduate of McCordsville High School. She married the love of her life, William “Sleepy” Fry on November 18, 1946, and spent nearly 70 years together until his passing in 2015. She worked for Ft. Benjamin Harrison Finance & Accounting Center. She was a 75-year member of the Eden Eastern Star, a member of the Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church and Bible study. Cat enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and canning vegetables and was a great cook. More than anything, she loved being with her family who she loved dearly.
She is survived by children: Kenneth (Jerri) Fry and Dennis (Shirley Nelson) Fry and Donna (Steve) Durack all of Greenfield; 5 grandchildren: Jenny Barnes; Noel (Morgan Williams)Hatcher; Mindy (Nick) Vanlaningham; Jill (Kevin) Prefontaine and Daniel (Matthew Grindle) Durack; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister Elsie McCord as well as several nieces nephews and cousins. .
Cat was preceded in death by her parents and husband Sleepy listed above; grandson Ryan Fry, sister Georgia Pearl Lain and brother Paul Lane.
