Mary “Gramma” Cason Dunn, of Sparta, Georgia, met Jesus face to face on Saturday, May 7, 2022. She was born January 12, 1942, in Sparta, GA the daughter of the late Prior Gardner Cason and Mamie Lou Beall Cason. She grew up in Culverton, graduated from Sparta High School and continued her education with secretarial courses.  On September 20, 1961, she married William Gene Dunn, and they made their home in Sparta, GA.  She was a devoted wife who loved her husband and children unconditionally. She spent hours alongside her husband helping in the tomato garden and sitting on the front porch. Along with her husband, she owned and operated TIYLI Family Restaurant in Sparta for seventeen years.

Her grandchildren will always remember her for making “mud pies” in the barn, playing cards late at night, and riding the go-cart (often with “Gramma” in the driver’s seat). She was present for all of life’s big moments. She attended as many games, performances, graduations, and parties as she could. You could tell by walking in her home what made her heart the happiest. The walls of her home are covered (literally) with photos of her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Brian) Hill of Watkinsville, GA, son, Mike (Sheri) Dunn from Maryville, TN, and daughter, Carol Lucas from Maryville, TN; sisters, Emily Smith and Louann (Ace) Chamblee; sister-in-law, Peggy Cason; four grandchildren, Adam Hill, Amanda (Chandler) Hill Chittom, Caroline Hill, and Grace Lucas, and one great grandson, Sawyer Poulnott; other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Dunn, a sister, Shirley Cason, and a brother, Prior Veazey Cason.
