Mary Kathryn (Kay) Combs Callahan died on July 31, 2013.
She was born and grew up in Chariton, Iowa.
Mary Kay graduated from Chariton High in 1940 then off to college.
On Jun 6, 1945 she married Lt. John A. (Jack) Callahan in the Cadet Chapel at West Point.
For many years as an Officer wife she was active in the wives’ club and Girl Scouting.
On John’s retirement, after many moves, they settled in Houston, TX.
Kay was President of New Neighbors League of Houston, active in the Rustling Pine Women’s Group; she worked with the Stroke Group of Texas and Alzheimer’s Support Group.
Surviving Kay are her husband, John; three daughters; Kathie, Vicki and Jerry; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
