Mary Clair Stanton, aged 88, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 6, 2015. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William John Stanton, Jr., her mother Kathleen Daley “Mamie” Clair, her father William J. Clair, her brothers John “Jack” Clair, James “Bubber” Clair, and William “Billy” Clair and Aunt Edna Riley Girnus. She is survived by her son William John “Bill” Stanton, V, and wife Martha Gillis, her daughter Stephanie Stanton and husband Eric Husted; her granddaughter Olivia Clair Mace and husband Mike Larkin, her great granddaughter Lyla Riley Larkin; her granddaughter Gretchen Kientz Bybee and husband Jeff Bybee and great granddaughter Parker Bybee; granddaughter Amy Kientz and great grandson Brandon Marino and great granddaughter Hailey Marino. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stanton was born in New Orleans and was a life-long resident of the Lakeview area until Hurricane Katrina. Mrs. Stanton retired from the Louisiana State Racing Commission in 1985. She was also a member of The Third Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel since 1968. She was a parishioner and Altar Society member of St. Louis King of France parish from 1958 until August 29, 2005, after which she moved to Natchitoches, LA. Her gentle and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed.
