On the evening of October 30, 2016, God, in His infinite wisdom, felt that the good life of Blanche Brown Haines should quietly draw to a close, and she gently slipped away into the His loving arms. How exciting that she was welcomed into that new life by her parents Seals Askew and Fannie Lucy Moore Brown and her husband William Carter “Billy” Haines. Blanche was preceded in death by her siblings Edna Jean, Annie Lizzie, C.W., Robert and Joe. Grandsons Britt Hall and Carter Haines also predeceased her. Blanche was one of nine children born to the Browns in Carroll County in the area that is now the McIntosh Reserve. Blanche and family moved to Arnco near the beginning of WW II where she met and married a dashing young Army private, Billy. They both spent many years working at International Playtex. She was a seamstress, and Billy oversaw quality control. Their life together would be shortened by his death at the age of 60. In the years following, Blanche would fill her life with her family and her hobbies. She retired from Playtex in 1995. Always up for an adventure, she enjoyed the Red Hat Society, trips to the Caribbean, Alaska and the Amish country. Her faith was grounded first at Lovejoy Methodist Church and later at Heatherwood Baptist Church. She loved her friends and community including those friendships made at Lora’s Place. Blanche was quite an artisan and loved sewing. Quilt making became a great hobby, and she took great pride in making quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Deloris and Don Hartley, Charlene and Ron Hall, Joy and Randy Walker, Joe and Leigh Haines. She was the ultimate doting grandmother to Lori and Ben Ware, Jay and Kim Hartley, Misty and Malcolm Moore, Lindsay and Joey Justiss, Taylor and Kristina Walker and Davis Haines. She was great grandmother to Emily, Amelia and Eli Ware; Wesley Arnold; Anna Louise, Dottie and Jack Hall; Mallie, Mackenzie and Mary Grace Moore; Walker and Emma Rylee Justiss; Brogan and Hudson Walker. Her surviving siblings are Clovis Pope, Martha Sue Ashley and Pauline Brown. “There are more nieces and nephews than you could shake a stick at.”
