Mary Betty Herrod, 87, Of Liberty Addition, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born December 23, 1924 in Wilsonburg, the daughter of the late Reverend Loyal D. Williams and Gladys F. Davis Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband Oral M. Herrod on September 25, 2010. She is survived by close friends and caregivers; Steve and Ruth Gum of Clarksburg, her adopted grandson; Steven D. Gum, II; her adopted great grandson; Brennan “monkey squirt” Gum; one niece and several nephews and a special cousin Rhonda and husband David Lantz and family of Clarksburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles K Williams. Mary Betty graduated from Bristol High School in 1942. She retired from Broida’s Clothing Store where she worked as a clerk and in sales with over 20 years in sales. She was a member of Wilsonburg Baptist Church.
