Mary Belle “Bernice” Melchek
Mary “Bernice” Melchek, 84, of Kingwood went to be with the Lord, October 20, 2015 at Pine Ridge, formally known as Heartland of Preston County.
Bernice was born, May 14, 1931, in Tunnelton a daughter of the late James and Mary Elizabeth Myers Casseday.
Bernice was a graduate of Tunnelton High School, class of 1949. She continued her education at Fairmont Business College, earning a Secretarial Course in 1950. Bernice worked 47 years for the Preston County Courthouse in the Tax Office, 31years for three County Clerks and finished her career as Secretary for the Sheriff’s Department.
Bernice is survived by her sister, Georgia Durst of Oakland, MD and several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Pete Walter Melchek.
