Mary Elizabeth Hamilton Barker, 93, passed away at her home Wednesday, March 13 surrounded by her family. Born in Monroe County September 21, 1919 she was the daughter of Marvin H. Hamilton and Cleo M. Oard Hamilton.
She was a 1937 Graduate of Ellettsville High School and worked at RCA during the World War II years. She married Benton E. Barker on January 7, 1942 and they raised their family west of Bloomington near the Monroe County Airport.
She was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband. She enjoyed cooking for and taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and in later years reading. She was a long time member of the Richland Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne Barker; one son Harry (Flora) Barker both Bloomington; one foster daughter Dorothy (Frank) May, Ellettsville; 3 grandchildren; Jared (Trisha) Barker; Aaron Barker; Isaac (Maria) Barker;5 great-grandchildren.
