Mary Anne Elchin
On December 8, 2021, Mary Anne Elchin (nee Druzgala) passed away at age 100. Mrs. Elchin lived in the Brooklyn Park area of Baltimore for almost her entire life. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Church. She spoke fluent Polish and was an amazing cook. Pierogis were a household staple, and if it was sweet, she baked it. Sewing and quilting were special talents, and she could make the most incredible appliqued quilts. Her grandchildren still have her intricately handmade Christmas stockings. Her favorite time of year was, in fact, Christmas, with a big dinner at her home and her Christmas tree so beautifully decorated! Mrs. Elchin also appreciated a good shot of Crown Royal, and don’t try and fool her with an imitation. She was known to all as a loving, nurturing person. A grandson shared:
Mary Anne Elchin was the beloved wife of the late Peter Elchin; devoted mother of Janet Elchin Gooch and her husband Joel, and the late Ronald Elchin; cherished grandmother of Adrienne Herrmann and husband Brad, Michael and Mark Gooch, Jennifer, Wesley and Jeffrey Elchin; loving great grandmother of Ryan, Lauren, Jack, Katherine and Elizabeth.
