Lakewood, CO – Mary Ann Velasquez, a long-time resident of Lakewood, CO, died Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at the Gardens on Quail Assisted Living in Arvada, CO. Born in 1931 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Mary Ann received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Mount St. Mary’s College in New Hampshire. After college she joined the US Air Force and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant as a flight nurse during the Korean conflict. She met her future husband, 1st LT Herman H. Velasquez, while stationed in Witchita Falls, Texas. They married in 1956.
