Mary Ann Thompson, 91, of Algona, died on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Mary Ann Davis, the daughter of Albert James and Edna May (Hiller) Davis, was born on January 7, 1925, in Seneca Township. On January 8, 1944, Mary Ann was united in marriage with William Rowland Thompson in Elmore, Minnesota. She had worked as a cook in various cafes in Algona. Mary Ann enjoyed canning, baking, flowers, gardening, playing cards, picnicking, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her children, Patricia Thompson of Anamosa, Roberta (Jerry) Grandgenett of Algona, Susan Thompson of Mason City, Sandy (Dave) Coyle of LuVerne, Earl (Mary) Thompson of Algona, Becky (Mark) Kramer of LuVerne, Julie (Paul Elbert) Thompson of Algona, Barbie (Nick) Detrick of Algona and Lori (Steve) Krug of Algona; a son-in-law, Ken Carmen of Algona; 41 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Burtis of Britt, Barbara Fisher of New Ulm, MN, Marilyn Adams of Lake Mills and Peggy Holck of Ames; and a sister-in-law, Marge Davis of Eldon, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Darlene and Carol; a son, Robert; sisters, Elma Bergeson, Adelia Hegarty, Patricia Davis, Scherry Kyhl, Marion Hanson and Sally Green; and brothers, Robert, Albert Jr., Elwood, Jack and Jerry Davis.
