– Mary Ann Barcikowski died on September 4, 2010 at The Regency Retirement Center in Charlotte, NC with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.
– She was born on January 16, 1920 to Josephine and Stanley Smykaj in South River, New Jersey. Mary Ann was the youngest of five siblings and the only girl. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers: Stanley, Walter, Casmir and Tony,

Mary Ann married John Victor Barcikowski on May 29, 1938. They lived in South River until 2002 and then move to Charlotte, NC. John and Mary Ann were married 66 years until John’s death in 2005.
Mary Ann was employed part time at many jobs but her primary vocation was the care of her family. She was a compassionate and kind person who would help all who needed her. Her skill in dressmaking was exemplary and was her passion.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Marcia Takacs and son-in-law Joseph of Charlotte, NC and son John Barcikowski and daughter”in-law Betty of Gridley CA.
Also surviving her are grandchildren: Gregory and Elizabeth Takacs of Fairfield CT, Geoffrey and Paula Takacs of Charlotte, NC, and Amy and Stacey Gore of Nelson, CA. Surviving great-grandsons are: Geoffrey Takacs, John Takacs, Graham Takacs and Jonathan Gore.
