Mary Ann Mundy, 80, of Williamson, Iowa went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 @ the Circle of Life Legacy Lodge of Chariton, Iowa. Mary Ann was born on July 18, 1935 at her home in Williamson, Iowa to John and Madeline (Vairo) Polo. She lived her childhood in Williamson and graduated from Chariton High School.
She married Charles “Billy” Mundy on June 30, 1957 in Princeton, Missouri. To this union, four sons were born: Chuck, Dan, Brian, and Steven Mundy. They were the pride and joy of Mary Ann’s life. They settled in Williamson, Iowa, where she lived life up until the last 6 months. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, first and foremost.
Mary Ann occupied her time cleaning the Williamson Community Center, and she worked the election polls as well. She and her local friends also wrote their monthly newsletter: “The Williamson Highlights”.
Many family and friends will remember Mary Ann as a woman of habit. Billy and her went to Hardee’s every morning drinking coffee and sharing the latest gossip and stories with their many “Coffee Club” friends. She enjoyed her daily walks to the post office, her shows, and daily phone calls from her sons. She loved to walk through the woods in search of Morels. She always looked forward to attending her great grandchildren’s birthday parties, watching them play sports, and perform in school programs.
She was a follower of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday, she worshipped with her late brother Johnny, his wife Mary Jo, and other friends. They listened to Sermons on cassette tapes and would go out to eat and discuss the message conveyed.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles (Bill) Mundy, and brother Johnny Polo.
