Gordon, Mary Ann (nee Furey) age 83, of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2016 after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Astoria, Queens on July 19, 1932, she was the eldest daughter of Vincent and Mary (Hiegel) Furey.  MaryAnn was a devoted parishioner of St. Luke’s Church for over 60 years and also a proud resident of Waldwick, where she served the Borough for many years as its Tax Assessor.

A graduate of St. Cecilia’s in Englewood, she remained close with many of her High School friends, especially her dearest friend, Carole Jacomo Seyffer.

Mary Ann is survived by her children Maureen (Roy) Klaproth, Lorraine (Bruce) Wiener, James (Anne) Gordon, and Michael (Peggy) Gordon, as well as her twelve grandchildren, Meghan (Billy) Ferrara, Jesse (Elizabeth) Klaproth, Brendan Klaproth, Daniel Klaproth, Michele Wiener, Nicholas Wiener, Amy Wiener, Christine Gordon, Patrick Gordon, Genevieve Gordon, Elisabeth Gordon, Norah Gordon, two great grandchildren Kieran and Lochlan Ferrara, as well as her two sisters Caroline (Bob) Kosowicz, and Kathleen Coolong and many nieces and nephews.  Known to her beloved family as “Mere-mere”, she will always be remembered for her lifelong love of reading and history, her rabid interest in politics but especially for her devotion to her family, which was truly her passion in life.
