Loving Daughter, Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Mrs. Mary Ann (Del Buono) Casteel, age 61, died at her parents’ home in Watertown on August 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving husband, Thomas Casteel, loving son and daughter, her devoted parents and family. Mary was born on December 6, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter of John and Barbara Del Buono.

Mary grew up in Waterbury and attended Mt. Carmel Grammar School and Catholic High and Kennedy High Schools. She was a loving caregiver to her traumatically brain injured brother, John Nicholas Del Buono, for 26 years. She became a paralegal working with her father, Attorney John Del Buono, for 22 years.

Mary loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful vacations with her children and husband. She wanted to see the Seven Wonders of the World and the Northern Lights and is now getting a spectacular view of them from the other side.. She especially liked the western part of the United States, the Grand Canyon and sunrises. Cactus plants adorned her home and office. She was an avid fan of The Moody Blues and attended many of their concerts with her husband Tom and her brother Nick. She excelled at cross-stitching and gave many beautiful gifts to her family and friends. She and her mother attended ceramic classes, making many beautiful works of art. One of her favorite pastimes was planning parties for every occasion for her children, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
